1982,1，重庆师範学院生物系本科毕业，学士；1984,12，西南农业大学植物生理生化研究生毕业，硕士；1990,10,农业部华中农业大学外语培训中心结业,获证书The Bell Educational Trust；1994,8，德国Hohenheim University，Centre for Agriculture in the Tropics and Subtropics交流学习,获Postgraduate Course证书。1985,1至今在西南（农业）大学从事植物生理生化教学与科研工作。
先后主持与参加国家自然科学基金、国际合作项目、863计画、省部级研究项目等40多项，国内外刊物上发表论文200余篇，发明专利10多项。在植物抗逆性的生理生化与分子机理，作物生理生化与栽培，植物综合开发利用，作物品质改良与抗性育种及化学物质的协同调控作用等方面研究均有重要成果。承担农业部、省市各种教改项目10余项。“九五”以来主编和副主编全国普通高等院校规划教材及专着等20多本。曾获省部级各类奖励10多次。“重庆市植物生理生物化学团队”带头人。指导培养博士10多名、硕士40多名。先后到泰国Chiang Mai University、德国Hohenheim University、美国St.Louis等参加科研和学术交流活动。
在《IRRN》、《J Plant Physiology》、《营养学报》、《作物学报》、《中国野生植物》等国内外刊物上，撰写发表论文“6-BA对低温下水稻幼苗细胞膜系统保护作用的研究”、“淹水对大麦和小麦若干生理生化特性影响的比较研究”、“火棘果发育与贮藏期间营养成分和色素的变化研究”、“油菜素甾醇对水稻幼苗根系代谢的生理效应”、“Influence of brassinosteroid on rice seedling grouth”等80余篇，其中有10余篇被评为省、市的优秀学术论文，被国际权威刊物摘录。1999年赴美国参加“第十六届国际植物学大会”，还发表科普文章数十篇，译文五万余字。
